The Inspiron 700m notebook has two memory slots, one under the keyboard and one accessible from a panel on the bottom of the computer. With an existing 512MB RAM (256MB in each slot), I decided I didn't want to mess with opening up the keyboard so I bought the 1.0GB SODIMM, unscrewed the bottom panel, popped out the existing 256MB SODIMM and popped in the new one. I replaced the cover and booted the machine, which immediately recognized the additional memory. The performance improvement was immediately noticeable: programs load and run faster, plus I can have more programs open without speed degradation. This is important because I've recently added a variety of security applications that run all the time. Overall, the memory upgrade was a great value. Plus, I received it from OEMPCworld in record time.
