I bought a 256MB PC100/PC133 DIMM (256M-PC10032x4, 256M-PC133/32x4 or AP10032x4) and it only reads 128MB or not at all, what is the problem?

You ordered a 256MB DIMMs using the 32x4 DRAM, these modules are very specific and will only work with a limited number of SIS and Via chipsets (mostly AMD and later Intel processors) and Apple G3/G4 PCI/Yikes, everything else recognizes them as 128MB or not at all. This is a density issue of your motherboard. Typically a system would support 512MB DIMMs to be able to use these modules.
Check our PC Chipset Guide and Apple RAM Guide to see if your chipset supports 32x4. If not, you can upgrade them, just use the online RMA form to request exchange for the parts you need, item 256M-PC100 or 256M-AP100, include a check for the difference, use our current website pricing to calculate the difference.
