GoPro fans are lining up for the latest GoPro camera, the HERO12. As with older HERO models such as last year’s HERO11, the HERO12 camera uses a microSD card for file storage. If you have a GoPro you’ll want to use a high capacity card so your camera doesn’t run out of storage capacity while shooting your 4K UHD videos.
What are the best microSD cards for the GoPro HERO12?
Due to the HERO12’s impressive processing, GoPro recommends a fast microSDXC card with at least a v30 or UHS-1 rating. Slower knock-off or budget cards may cause a noticeable “lag” in any high-def recording, so go with the faster brand-name cards. Fast write speeds are crucial!
Also consider how many hours of 4K video you’ll be recording. Capacity makes a BIG difference! A 32GB card will only store about 45 minutes of 4K (60fps) video, while a 128GB card can store over 3 hours of 4K video. Make sure your card doesn’t run out of storage while you are recording your latest outdoor (or underwater) adventure!
OEMPCWORLD employees have many years of experience in flash memory products. We recommend these microSD cards for your GoPro camera:
SanDisk Extreme (128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB sizes)
Samsung Pro Plus (128GB, 256GB, and 512GB sizes)
SanDisk Extreme Pro (256GB, 512GB and 1TB sizes)
Lexar Professional (256GB and 512GB sizes)
Kioxia Exceria Plus (128GB and 256GB sizes)
When you purchase a microSD card, make sure you also get an SD card adapter! With the exception of the SanDisk Extreme card, all of our recommendations above include an adapter. This will make it easy to transfer your photos and videos to your PC or laptop. (SD adapters are available separately.)
